THE COMPLETE MOVING CHECKLIST
Moving can be stressful. There are schedules to work around, appointments to confirm, and plenty of little details that can fall through the cracks. Whether your move is local or long distance, from an office or a home, this checklist will help you get through your move and out the other side feeling ready to enjoy your new space.

ONE MONTH BEFORE MOVING
- Call Pete's Moving Services LLC and book a date
- Notify friends and family about your address change
- Call to update your home insurance policies
- Notify your school and/or work of your change in address and fill out appropriate paperwork
- Notify your bank and post office regarding your change in address
- Arrange for a housecleaning service
- Begin clearing out your frozen foods
- Ask your current physicians to transfer medical/dental records to your new doctor’s office
- Create and safely store copies of renewable prescriptions
TWO WEEKS BEFORE MOVING
- Call to disconnect utilities and transfer them to your new home
- Donate unwanted items, or coordinate a yard sale
- Get a change of address for your driver’s license
- Remember to pick-up any dry-cleaning or items out for repair
- Arrange for the transportation of any pets
- Begin packing (don’t forget to label all boxes)
ONE WEEK BEFORE MOVING
- Discontinue your newspaper service
- If needed, arrange for a babysitter for the day of your move
- Remove anything nailed to the wall (including curtain rods, frames, and shelving)
- Organize valuable documents, keepsakes, and jewelry and plan to take them in your car
ONE DAY BEFORE MOVING
- Create a pile of items you will be taking in your car
- Clean and empty your refrigerator, freezer, and oven
- Finish packing any last-minute items
- Get in contact with your movers to confirm your moving time, new address, and where you can be reached
- Make sure you have everything you need for arrival at your new home
- Verify all of your utilities have been connected at your new address
MOVING DAY
- Be sure someone is available to answer movers’ questions
- Sweep or vacuum your home’s floors
- Go through a final walk-through of your home before leaving (checking all rooms, closets, and cabinets)
- Remember to turn off all lights and lock up front and back doors
- Check with your driver to make sure they have your new home’s address and directions
- Return keys to your landlord or real estate agent.
